From September 26 to October 18, 2026, two exhibitions by photographer Dana Cojbuc will take place in Gaillac and Montauban. Born in Romania in 1979, she graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Fine Arts. She now lives in Paris and enjoys a well-established reputation in France as well as increasing international recognition.

After developing a purely photographic practice for several years, she began a singular and sensitive integration of drawing into her photographs, redefining the boundaries of the photographic image and reinventing the subject through manual interventions on her prints.

“At the intersection of photography and drawing, my work draws inspiration from landscapes, mythologies, and personal memories, weaving a thread between the sensory and the imaginary, between reality and fiction. White has always occupied an essential place in my universe, appearing in turn as breath, material—snow, cloud, foam—and symbol. I work with analogue photography using a Hasselblad XPan. In the darkroom, I intend to digitize the negatives from this series and, above all, produce silver gelatin prints. I am particularly eager to explore the Piezography process, renowned for the richness of its blacks and the subtlety of its grey tones. Although my artistic practice is rooted in photography, I also incorporate drawing elements into some of my prints. The qualities of carbon Piezography would harmonize beautifully with my charcoal and pastel work.”

Dana Cojbuc often works in series, although, as she explains : “…lately, I enjoy mixing them together, each time remaining engaged in an ongoing experimentation with landscape.”

The selected photographs will be printed at the Centre pour la photographie, which is equipped with two professional printers, including one dedicated to Piezography®. The printing process will therefore be the result of a collaboration between the artist and Dominique Laugé, Director of the Centre. Dana will then continue working on the prints with hand-drawn interventions, one of which will be carried out live during the exhibition opening.

Part of the paper stock will be supplied by the Centre pour la photographie’s partners, Arches and Taos Photographic.
